As a Social Media Manager, my main goal is to provide content to my followers on social media and my clients who I'm getting paid to serve.

How do we know if the content we're providing is what our ideal audience is looking for?

Answer these questions!

What is your niche and are you focusing on the specfics?

Being a social media manager is very broad because there are also thousands of other social media managers. Being a social media manager that helps small businesses is CLOSE, but still too broad. An ideal client wants to see your page and say, "Wow! This is exactly what I'm looking for in a social media manager, they will totally get me!" Now try something like this: A Social Media Manager that specializes in helping new businesses grow an online presence (that's me ;)). If you're even questioning if your title is specific enough, it probably means you can be even more specific. If you're having trouble or having second thoughts, send me a message on Instagram right now @livesociallymad! I'd be happy to help :)

What is your audience looking for?

Once you determine your ideal audience you can start focusing on the type of content to plan for. Is your audience looking for tips and tricks or are they looking for support? As someone who is looking to build their online portfolio, I highly suggest putting your full focus on your audience. Your ideal audience is selfishly looking for ways to better themselves. They likely don't care about your everyday personal life because that does not benefit them. What benefits them is showcasing your strengths and major skills that they can use to better their business.

3 Types of Content that your Ideal Client is Looking for

⭐️ Value: Offering value to your ideal client increases your credibility and chances that they will keep coming back for more tips and tricks! Value as a Social Media Manager may include tips to increase engagement, how to make your day-to-day business easier, ways to attract clients, postable content ideas, and more.

⭐️ MAKE IT PERSONAL: Connecting your ideal client to your WHY is important if you want to gain trust and build relationships! It was mentioned before that your ideal client is not looking to hear about ONLY YOU 24/7 which is still true, but adding your personality to your page will allow those clients to trust you and your provided content.

⭐️ SOCIAL PROOF: Providing social proof adds value to your brand and reputation. It also showcases why you’re the best person for the job. You could achieve this by asking a client to review your services, or by building a personal online platform like an Instagram or Facebook page. This may take a little more time, but as time goes on you'll be able to create an online portfolio that showcases your entire brand.
